I am constantly stressing the importance of a good tagline to describe your venture – a tagline designed to make listeners say “Tell me more.” Sometime ask me about the “Cocktail Party Bar Queue Test.” I promise not to bore you!
This morning, I was struck by a Letter to the Editor in the Wall Street Journal Print Edition that shows the importance of a good tagline in everyday life. I couldn’t wait to share it with you.

A Busy Woman Needs A Good Beta Man
I was struck when reading “The Upside of ‘Marrying Down” (Review, April 19) by the description of a “beta man,” a loving partner able to support his wife’s achievements and contribute to the household. This is the role for which many women have been patronized for a long time.
A few decades back, I gave up my career because I knew I wanted to be home to raise my children, and I didn’t care what anyone thought. When I’d go to parties and be asked, “What do you do?” and would respond, “I’m home with the children,” people would immediately start looking over my shoulder for someone more interesting to talk with. So as an experiment I started saying “I’m a child advocate specializing in the early childhood years,” and the response would be “How fascinating—tell me more!”
It would be nice for everyone to stop judging everyone else, but as a social advocate now specializing in the human adult years, I know that’s probably never going to happen.
